Why should I choose the aluminum over steel?
Aluminum has the same characteristics and generally costs less to maintain than steel - it is more rust resistant, which is helpful if you live in the coastal areas where the climate can shorten the lifespan of the steel. However, take note that aluminum can be prone to denting since its fairly light-weight.
What kind of maintenance does my garage door opener require?
You should inspect the opener for visible signs of damage fairly regularly. You'll have to ensure that its properly connected to its power source and you may want to clean its housing if there is a lot of dust and dirt. In particular, dust build can prevent the sensors from functioning properly. We also recommend lubricating the chain or screw drive if you have this type of opener.
Can I replace my faulty garage door opener?
Your opener can be easily replaced if it's completely failed however it may be that just a part needs to be replaced or that the system simply needs some troubleshooting. Our team can help you with this before you commit to a full replacement - get in touch! Whatever you do, we also advise against trying to replace any of these parts yourself!
Is a bow in the rail a serious problem?
No, it is not necessarily a serious problem but it will need to be fixed. Bowing usually occurs when the opener is set to lower the door too far down. You simply need to readjust it using the switch designed for the purpose. This will protect the operator from extensive wear and tear.
